Administrative history
The Woodstock Women’s Liberal Association was formed in 1934, with Mrs. M.S. Schell elected as Honorary President and Miss Helen White elected President, as a way for the women of Oxford to have a say within the Liberal party. During the war years the Association donated an electric sewing machine and electric iron to the Red Cross rooms and knitted socks and sweaters for the Red Cross as part of the war effort. After the war the Association was mainly a political club that meet monthly at the YWCA to discuss politics and to listen to speakers discuss various topics.
Although the Ontario Women’s Liberal Commission is still in existence (formed in 1928), encouraging the active participation of women at all levels of the party, with various chapters throughout the Province, the Woodstock Association is no longer in existence.
