    Custodial history

The custodial history of this collection is complex and not fully known. Most photographs and documents were from the personal collection of W.F. Langworthy. This included photographs from his experiences, and images of a historical nature that he gathered out of interest. These seem to have been passed to Dr. George E. Eakins, who then donated them to Lakehead University.

A number of items that were donated with this collection were then placed into the Library's print collection, which accounts for inconsistent item numbering.

    Scope and content

Photographs and documents, generally collected because they would be of interest regarding the history of Port Arthur and Fort William. Includes rail and CPR, ships, fishing, and social and sporting groups.
