      In November 2009, Ontario Tech University took ownership of the historic Regent Theatre,
      which has been a landmark on King Street in downtown Oshawa for 90
      years. The beautifully renovated, 600-seat theatre now serves as a large
      lecture hall for students and a performance venue for community events at
      night and on weekends;
      The downtown Oshawa campus is thriving. The Faculty of Education, located
      in renovated facilities at 11 Simcoe Street North was joined by the Faculty of
      Social Science and Humanities in September 2010. Now more than 1,300
      students and staff attend class and work in the city core. The brand new,
      five-storey administrative building at 55 Bond Street houses, classrooms, a
      student lounge, meeting rooms and offices. The newly refurbished, former
      Alger Press building at 61 Charles Street will be home to a Social Science
      library, classrooms, student study space, the Registrar’s office, a café and
      much more.
