            The fonds consists of records relating to Edwin Seaborn's medical and military careers, research, and personal records. Included are ledgers, research notes, correspondence, programmes, invitations, scrapbooks, postcard collection, photographs, books, newspaper clippings; and copies of diaries, letters and reminiscences of various Middlesex County residents dating. The fonds consists of records created between 1883 - 1951.

            The Dr. F. W. Luney fonds consists of 14 series (and 2 subseries) of records chronicling his scholarly beginnings as a medical student at the University of Western Ontario, his appointment as Senior Pathologist at Victoria Hospital, and the extent of his professional career as Clinical Laboratory Chief at St. Joseph’s Hospital until his retirement in 1961. During his career, Dr. Luney would enlist in the Canadian Army Medical Services Division during WWI, establish a Clinical Pathology Laboratory at St. Joseph’s Hospital in 1928, conduct extensive research in blood transfusion techniques, direct the opening of the Blood Bank Department and St. Joseph’s Hospital in 1945, establish private consulting services for smaller hospitals in southern Ontario, and create the Dr. F. W. Luney Fund to raise funds for the Medical Library at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Records of note include: well-maintained, original photographs of Dr. Luney and fellow classmates posing with a cadaver; records created to document body parts and organs donated to Luney’s private “Museum”; personal notebooks outlining his medical training and professional experiences; a selection of diplomas and certificates; records of his $5,000 donation to the Medical Library at St. Joseph’s Hospital; photographs depicting the two-person multiple syringe apparatus he invented; notes from lectures and seminars that he gave on pathology and blood transfusion-related subjects; and a 60th anniversary portrait of Dr. F. W. Luney with his fellow 1914 graduates.

            This fonds consists of records relating to Huggan’s academic, writing, and professional activities, as well as her personal life between 1949-2018. Included are manuscripts and drafts; research materials; notes and correspondence related to her short stories, poems, and workshop participation; records related to her graduate studies at the University of Western Ontario and teaching career; financial records and royalty statements; records relating to her travels throughout Europe, Canada, and Asia; and personal records and correspondence.             Lakehead University evolved from the Lakehead Technical Institute (LTI), which was established in 1946. From LTI, Lakehead became the Lakehead College of Arts, Science and Technology in 1956. The Lakehead University Act was given Royal Assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario in 1965, and Lakehead University was established. The first degrees granted by Lakehead University were in Arts and Science in 1965.

            The collection consists of newspapers (primarily the Orillia Daily Packet and Times) with stories related to the proposal to establish a campus of the Waterloo Lutheran University in Orillia.

            The proposal made by the Orillia University Committee in September 1965 to Simcoe County Council to establish funding for the new university campus was approved, and $600,000 allocated. Fundraising commenced, but was halted in 1968 by the Ontario Ministry of University Affairs.

            The Way We Were Collection

            Collection consists of captioned photographs contributed by Alan Noon to the Western News in a weekly photofeature entitled "The Way We Were". This feature ran from 2001 to 2012. Photographs were originally taken by London Free Press , Western News photographers, Al Noon or photos within Western Archives holdings and other privately held photographs. Noon researched and wrote each caption; these are found in the scope and content notes for each photograph.

            Fonds consists of records created and acquired by Western's Caucus on Women's Issues. Included are newsletters, minutes, financial records, various versions of their constitution, correspondence, documentary field tapes and reference materials as well as records relating to the Caucus' efforts to establish women's studies as a discipline, promote employment equity and contribute a women's perspective to the policy and planning processes at the university.
            Also included in the fonds are the research materials of Constance Backhouse, law professor and member of the Caucus, who researched the history of women at Western as part of several projects including her report, “Women faculty at UWO: reflections on the employment equity award”, the establishment of UWO law archives and 100 years of women at Western.
