History
In 1969 the Committee to Implement the Findings of the Commission on Ministry in the 20th century recommended restructuring the United Church's administration. As per their recommendations, the Board of Colleges began merging with a new division responsible for colleges and ministry. By 1970 a new Division of Ministry and Education was formed. In 1971, the term "Personnel" was added to the name to reflect the United Church’s need for "growth in the method and quality of pastoral care for persons in ministry." Known as DMPE, the Division was responsible for the following over its course of existence: personnel services and advocacy, theological education, theological schools and training centres, church vocations (recruitment), continuing education, pastoral relationships, summer student programs, lay ministry, diaconal and commissioned ministry, women in ministry, native ministry, deaf ministry and understanding and interpreting ministry. In 2001 there was a major reorganization of General Council units and the mandate of the DMPE was moved into two units: Faith, Formation and Education (FFE) and Ministry, Employment and Personnel Services (MEPS).Under the major reorganization of General Council units in 2001, the mandate of the Division of Ministry Personnel and Education was moved to two units: Faith Formation and Education (FFE) and Ministry and Employment Policy and Services (MEPS).
