Administrative history
The Town of Bothwell, Kent County, Ontario was an incorporated municipal government by virtue of the terms of the Baldwin Act, Canada Statutes, 1849. As a lower tier, incorporated body it had an elected Council consisting of a Mayor, Reeve and Councillors depending on population. Its responsibilites related largely to delivery of services such as streets. It had the power to raise money through direct taxation on land and the issue of debentures.
