Stephen Fournier was elected the first Reeve in February 1887 for the Township of McKim and served in that roll until 1892. On December 26, 1892, he was acclaimed the first Mayor for the Town of Sudbury for the year 1893 (single year term) and was reelected in 1896.

Stephen Fournier was born December 27, 1852 in Trois-Pistoles, Quebec. He died February 11, 1929 in Sudbury, Ontario.
