The House of Commons Special Committee on Defence was appointed 7 June 1963 to consider matters relating to defence and to report from time to time its observations and opinions thereon, to send for persons, papers, and records, and to examine witnesses.

Scope and content
Fonds consists of fifteen files of minutes of proceedings and evidence for the meetings held by the Special Committee on Defence between 1963 and 1965. Includes the following documents: an Interim Report of the Special Committee of the House of Commons on Matters Relating to Defence; Bill C-90 : an Act to amend the National Defence Act; Civil Emergency Planning; Regular Officer Training Plan; Reserve Forces, Votes and Proceedings of the House of Commons of Canada, Department of Defence Production, the Special Paper Respecting Defence Expenditure and Its Influence on the Canadian Economy, the Canadian Commercial Corporation, the Naval Shipbuilding Programme, and Integrated Recruiting Organization, as well as a Special Studies prepared for the Special Committee of the House of Commons on Matters Relating to Defence, and the second to fifth Reports to the House. All years are complete. Many volumes contain duplicates.
