DMPE’s work concerning women in ministry was established with a Staff Associate for Women’s Concerns in 1976. In 1983 the position became Secretary of Women in Ministry (WIM). The WIM Secretary was responsible for the following: increasing the awareness and understanding of the Division, women in ministry, and the Church-at-large about the issues and concerns related to women in ministry; acting as an advocate for women in ministry in relation to the systems, policies and decisions of the Division; developing a network with women in accountable ministry within the United Church as well as ecumenically; sharing with the whole Church the struggles, learnings and gifts of women in ministry. The DMPE staff person was majorly responsible for being a staff resource for the Women in Ministry Committee.
Series consists of three subseries: 1) Office Files and Resources, 1974-2000, 2) Women in Ministry Overview Group, 1981-1984, 3) Women in Ministry Committee, 1982-2003.
