The Jack L. Giroux fonds documents Giroux’s role as representative for the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen (BRT) Lodge 249 Sudbury chapter and the different issues of the union and its membership. The correspondence, consisting mostly of exchanges between the different chapters and the head office of the union, informs us of union business. The challenges met by the union and the different work-related concerns for the safety of the railway workers, the scheduling, and work conditions are also addressed in the correspondence. Printed arbitration cases issued by the Canadian Railway Office, grievance procedures, constitutions, and switching limits (zoning), as well as documentation regarding the 1966 BRT strike in Sudbury are also included in this fonds.
