The date of the Princess Margaret Hospital – University Joint Relations Committee first meeting of is not known. The first minutes to survive in the Archives are from May 29, 1973.
The Princess Margaret Hospital – University Joint Relations Committee had the power to consider and make recommendations to the University and the OCI/PMH regarding the agreement between the two parties. The agreement included:
• That the students of the University would be permitted to take instruction in the OCI/PMH
• That the Faculty of Medicine will participate in the approval process of OCI/PMH appointments regarding interns, residents, diploma students and/or other post-graduate students.
• That the teaching departments of the OCI/PMH would be: the Department of Medicine, the Department of Paediatrics, the Department of Pathology, and the Department of Radiology (Diagnostic Radiology, Radiation Oncology, and Nuclear Medicine)
• That teaching facilities and opportunities at the OCI/PMH be made available.
• That research opportunities and research facilities at the OCI/PMH be made available.
• That the University makes available to OCI/PMH clinical departments its biomedical research facilities
• That the Director of the OCI/PMH is appointed by the Board with the approval of the University. The Director will then be given a senior teaching appointment in the Faculty of Medicine.
• The University agreed not to appoint a member of a department in the OCI/PMH as chair of a University Department without the agreement of the OCI/PMH Board.
The Princess Margaret Hospital – University Joint Relations Committee membership included: four University Governing Council appointed representatives from the University, and four members from the OCI/PMH as appointed by the Members of the OCI.
J.D. Hamilton was the chair of the Princess Margaret Hospital – University Joint Relations Committee in 1973. Subsequent chairs of the Princess Margaret Hospital – University Joint Relations Committee were P. Maclachlan (1974), R.W. Stevens (1975-1976, 1979, 1981, 1983, 1986), K. Dorington (1977), E. Kingstone (1978, 1980, 1982), C.H. Hollenberg (1985, 1987, 1989), K.R. Clarke (1988, 1990, 1992) and A.R. TenCate (1991 and 1994).

The files of the Princess Margaret Hospital – University Joint Relations Committee (1989-1994) were transferred from the Office of the Secretary to the Board to the Archives February 11, 1998 and received by the Archives on April 7, 1998.
