Administrative history

The date of the first meeting of the PMH Resident Committee is not known. The first minutes to survive in the Archives are from July 21, 1975.

The Resident Committee was responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate education as well as contributing to the smooth running of clinical services at the resident level. Some of the functions of the Resident Committee included:
• Organizing and supervising elective periods for undergraduates, clinical clerks, and residents.
• Producing and revising the Handbook of Oncology for clinical clerks.
• Advertising and selecting residents for training in radiation oncology.
• Advertising, selecting, and supervising In-patient clinical associates.
• Assigning clinical rotations.
• Organizing seminars, tutorials, and lectures.
• Organizing the end-of -rotation evaluations of residents, and the evaluation of radiation treatment assignments in conjunction with the Physics Department.
• Organizing and conducting examinations in clinical oncology.

W.J. Simpson was the chair of the PMH Resident Committee from 1975-1982.

Series consists of minutes of the PMH Resident Committee from 1975-1982. Minutes of the committee had been kept in one binder, within which minutes were filed in reverse chronological order. The files have been arranged chronologically by date.
