    Administrative history

    The Société historique de la région de Pierreville was created on 15 March 1979 as a non-profit organization. The Society is dedicated to preserving traces of the region’s heritage.

    Custodial history

    The Société historique de Pierreville’s collection was gathered together from about 1955 to 1990 by René Shooner, Engineer of the company Pierre Thibault Ltée, and Jean-Luc Côté, Chief designer of the company. The historical society then loaned the collection to the Canada Museum of Science and Technology in 1998. The transfer was formalized in 2019. The archivist has since added material to the Collection that was transferred to the Museum over time.

    Scope and content

    The fonds contains textual records and graphic material, mostly photographs, related to the company Pierre Thibault Ltée, including: photograph albums, sales catalogues, calendars (marketing tool), technical drawings, maintenance and operating manuals, press clippings, bills, and other administrative or financial documents. There is also a video on VHS cassette and DVD from the program Aujourd’hui on the fire fighters festival of Pierreville and Saint-François-du-Lac.

    The records are organized into 14 series: 1) Oversize photographs; 2) Slide and photograph albums; 3) Slide binders; 4) Catalogues, Manuals, and Public Relations; 5) Marketing and public relations; 6) Pierre Thibault company – Management, family, and operations; 7) Miscellaneous documents; 8) Manufacturing at the Thibault Factory – Fire – Canada: alphabetical order by customer 9) Thibault manufacturing – outside of Canada; 10) Thibault manufacturing by order number; 11) Thibault – miscellaneous manufacturing; 12) Thibault – unidentified manufacturing; 13) Thibault – Truck and pump parts; and 14) Other companies – manufacturing.
