    Custodial history

    Scope and content

Fonds consists of fifteen journals of Boggs’ bird observations. Volume 1 consists of typewritten pages organized by species of bird, apparently not in taxonomic order. This volume notes the dates when the bird was seen and observations about the bird and its habitat. Volume 2 consists of handwritten pages organized by species, possibly in taxonomic order, listing where and when it was sighted. In addition, there is a list of species collected in Ecuador, organized by the location of the sightings. Volume 3 is a list of all the birds collected in Alberta, organized first by date, then by species. This journal gives details about the appearance of the birds, as well as location of sighting. The remaining 12 volumes are all date books or diaries that Boggs used to record observations of weather, travels, and birds sightings. In addition, these volumes appear to have been used as personal diaries. Of these last 13 volumes, only the first two (volumes 4 and 5) are very heavily used.
