The National Bible College Committee of the PAOC had its origins in 1941 when the Special Bible College Committee report to the General Conference called for the creation of a committee to establish a national standard for teaching and discipline in Canadian Bible schools. In 1946 the Committee on Bible Schools and Education recommended the creation of the Standing Committee on Bible Schools and Colleges. The members of the committee were the principals of the PAOC-recognized Bible schools in Canada. Dr. J.E. Purdie was to be the chair and Charles Ratz the secretary. In 1948 the name was modified to the National Bible School Committee with the General Superintendent acting as the chair, Charles Ratz as secretary and all Bible school principals as members. In 1956 a National Standard for bible schools was adopted by the General Conference. By 1972 the districts gained representation on the committee. In 1998 the Bible College Committee was replaced by the Education Standards Committee.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of records which document the issues discussed by the Committee and the decisions it made. These documents consist of minutes of meetings, reports on various issues and from individual Bible colleges, and correspondence and minutes of other meetings related to issues discussed by the Committee. Notably, the fonds also includes copies of the National Bible College Standard which described the academic and administrative standards to which PAOC Bible colleges were held. The standard was revised regularly.
