Biographical history
L.B. Jenson (1921 - 2005) joined the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) in 1938 and served with the RCN during the Second World War. During this time, he was promoted to lieutenant, and after the war he remained active in the RCN, training officers and commanding various ships. After retiring from the RCN he settled in Nova Scotia and returned to his interest in pen and ink drawing, illustrating a number of books, including "Vanishing Halifax", "Nova Scotia Sketchbook", "Saga of the Great Fishing Schooners", and "The Hats, Oilskins & Seaboots A Naval Journey, 1938-1945". In 2004, he was awarded the Order of Canada for services to maritime heritage.

Scope and content
Fonds consists of profiles of Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) ships that served during the Second World War. Commander Latham B. Jenson drew them for the Naval History project circa 1990. Ships include the HMCS Algonquin, HMCS Kapuskasing, HMCS Vancouver, HMCS Georgian, HMCS Fraser, HMCS Athabaskan, HMCS Dunver, HMCS Niagara, HMCS St. Laurent, HMCS Alberni, HMCS Leaside, HMCS Prince David, HMCS Prince Henry, HMCS Nabob, and HMCS Uganda. Also included are sketches of a Fairmile "D" Motor Torpedo Boat, Fairmile Motor Launch Type "B", BCP 70.5 Motor Torpedo Boat, Landing Craft Assault, Landing Craft Mechanized (Mark 1), Landing Craft Mechanized (Mark 3), and Landing Craft Infantry (Large).
