    Custodial history

Journal was acquired by Paul Harrington, likely at the same time as he purchased Jacksons's egg collections from Hugh Jackson, John's brother. Paul Harrington either donated or sold the journal to the ROM.

    Scope and content

Fonds consists of a volume of notes on bird nests dating from May 24, 1887-June 10, 1893, as well as a listing of Jacksons' egg collection, purchased by the ROM. The notes are organized by species, giving both the Latin and common names, and consist of information on the date and where the specimens were collected, the sex and average size of the eggs, whether or not the eggs were incubated, and detailed information on the nest. The entries are not organized taxonomically; some Latin names are out of date. Paul Harrington made notes regarding the acquisition of Jackson's egg collection on page 2, some bird sighting notes on page 100, and was likely responsible for the list of Jackson's egg collection, found on pages 163-165.
