Biographical history

Archives staff have no information concerning the life and business of J.W. Taylor, though looking through the ledger it’s possible the business was conducted in Woodstock, Ontario.

Custodial history

The book was created/compiled by J.W. Taylor between the years 1906-1907. The ledger was eventually donated to the Oxford Historical Society. In 2022, the Oxford County Archives received the ledger, upon the closing of the Society’s Resource Centre.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of one financial ledger created and compiled by J.W. Taylor between the years 1906-1907. It appears he operated a drug store.

The ledger is in fair condition, with the spine becoming loose.

Immediate source of acquisition

Upon the closure of the Oxford Historical Society’s Resource Centre at the end of 2021, the ledger was transferred to the Oxford County Archives.
