Choate (family)The fonds consists of 12 letters written by Alexander McPherson to members of his family, including his mother and his brother-in-law. The majority of the letters were written while he held the position of Manager at Plantation Nos. 17 & 18 in Berbice, British Guiana and the remainder represent the period following when he settled at Whitby.

Series consists of a type-written copy of "Memoirs of My Life" by George Wilson, c1862. It was written in Montreal, and dedicated to Sarah (his wife). The series also includes one edition of the Port Hope Evening Guide (17 Jun 1929), as published by Geo. Wilson.
Item is a handwritten letter discussing a large number of deaths and the procession in Toronto. Letter is dated July 5, 1866. The author of the letter is A. P. Rice, writing from B. A. Cottage, Toronto, C. W. and speaks also of his studies in Toronto. References in letter are made to "F. Little" and "Elijah" (believed to be Elijah Rice 1843-1920).
