The fonds consists of material that documents Godard's professorial career and includes thesis advisory files, general correspondence, letters of recommendation, lecture notes, conference material, minutes and reports related to various departments and committees that she was involved with and additional material related to her work with the Canadian Federation of Humanities and to her work as editor of the "Bibliography of feminist criticism," "Gynocritics" among other publications. It also includes notes and drafts of her own writing including her undergraduate and graduate research, articles, book reviews, conference papers, drafts of her translations and a collection of chap books and broadsheets accumulated over the course of her career.

Fonds consists primarily of Black's records pertaining to her publications about Virginia Woolf, including "Three guineas" as edited by Black, and "Virginia Woolf as feminist" (including research notes, correspondence, drafts, proofs, and jacket art), and correspondence with Quentin Bell (Woolf's nephew and biographer). Also included are miscellaneous course material, book reviews written by Black, York University's Office of the Status of Women material including a run of "The Second Decade", publication lists created by Black, documents regarding the establishment of the Women's Studies programmes at York, and the enhancement of the Nellie Langford Rowell Library at York.

Collection consists of publications, policy statements, research reports, conference and educational documents, and newsletters accumulated by Professor Linda Briskin in the course of her research on women and equity in organized labour in Canada. The documents were published by or about local, provincial, and national organizations, including the Canadian Labour Congress, provincial federations of labour, Canadian and United Auto Workers, Canadian Air Line Employees' Association, Canada Employment Immigration Union, the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada, the Committee for Cleaners' Rights, International Ladies Garment Workers Union, Metro Labour Council, Union of Provincial Government Employees, Canadian Union of Public Employees, Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation, Public Service Alliance of Canada, United Steelworkers of Canada, Registered Nurses Association of Ontario, and the Windsor Hospital Clerical Workers Union of Canada. The collection deals with equity in collective bargaining units, including issues of sisterhood and solidarity, education, human rights, anti-racism, aboriginal issues, affirmative action, violence against women, and the impact of technological change. The documents are arranged into files by organization, and they reflect the equity initiatives undertaken by unions to transform organizational practice and culture in order to ensure fairness and representation for women and members of other equity-seeking groups.

The records in this series document McPhedran's contract negotiations with Cowater; her preliminary research; her travel to the Philippines, Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh; but primarily her work with Asian Development Bank staff to prepare the final report. The records in this series document the activities of the foundation in its first two years, particularly its board meetings and fundraising efforts to secure support from individuals, organizations and institutions, as well as McPhedran's work as interim director of the foundation in 1990. These records include correspondence, memoranda, minutes, questionnaires, notes, contracts, news releases, and invoices. Some records in this series were created by McPhedran's assistant for this project, Vicki Armstrong.

These records document the activities of the fund's committee (including fundraising), its financial resources, Charter Study Days, and audits of government statutes. McPhedran was a co-founder of the fund and member of the finance committee in 1982 and 1983. Series consists of records pertaining to Marilou McPhedran's involvement with the International Women's Rights Project (IWRP), founded in 1998 and initially based at the Centre for Refugee Studies at York University. The records in this series document McPhedran's work as founding director to fulfill the project's mandate, which was to strengthen the capacity of women's non-government organizations through research and activism to influence the implementation of international human rights standards. These records reflect IWRP's initial primary focus on the Conventional on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) Impact Study and Report, but also document projects that emerged from the CEDAW project, including initiatives regarding women's rights in Afghanistan and a project with the Kharvik Centre for Women's Studies in the Ukraine. Records in this series span the period of McPhedran's involvement with IWRP as founder, director and co-director, both at York University and at the Centre for Global Studies at the University of Victoria, from 1998 to 2005. Series consists of files created and accumulated by Marilou McPhedran pertaining to an Ontario Human Rights complaint filed against Osgoode Hall Law School and York University Dean Harry Arthurs and the resulting formation of the Institute for Feminist Legal Research at York University. McPhedran was one of more than 100 lawyers, law students and legal academics who were signatories of this complaint, which charged systemic discrimination against women after Osgoode Hall Law School did not promote Professor Mary Jane Mossman to the position of dean. The records in this series document the process of settling the dispute, the meetings and activities of the complainants' steering committee, and the details of the settlement made between the complainants and York University. These records include memoranda, newsletters, notes, correspondence, minutes of settlement, memoranda of agreement, agendas, reports, draft documents, invoices, and notices.
