The collection consists of large bound ledger books and photographic negatives capturing Burlington’s history as documented by The Burlington Post covering local news from the late 20th century to the dawn of the new millennium.
Burlington PostThis collection consists of textbooks; correspondence; articles; pamphlets; newspaper articles; bulletins; guidebooks; booklets; registration forms; maps; master plans; inventories; indexes; publications; slides; reports; conference and symposium programmes; speaker biographies; mailing lists; business cards; hand-written notes; photocopied articles and appendices; presentations; and reference lists created by Canadian conference organizers and their participants with a focus on horticulture, landscape, garden history, and historical farms and museums.
The collection contains nine digital photos acquired from Briand Plourde and 19 digital photos obtained from Claude and Louise Auclair, dating from 1943 to 1960. Most of the photos show the logging village’s installations, including the school and the cookery. Members of the Plourde and Auclair families also appear on several of them.
Plourde, BriandThe collection includes textual, audiovisual and sound documents about the 1963 strike and the Reesor Siding shooting. Three of the series mainly contain reproductions of newspaper clippings as well as various textual documents. Documents pertaining to Paul Doucet’s play Le silence d’une tragédie can be found in one of the series. There also is a series containing the funeral cards of the three strikers who lost their lives during the shooting. The last series contains sound and audiovisual documents.
Événements Reesor SdingThe collection includes digital photos of the town of Opasatika and the facilities at the Nassau Lake from 1950 to 1970. Much of the digital photos show activities related to forestry work and to the development of the two villages. Others depict family members and outdoor activities. Some pictures date from the later decades.
The collection includes six digital photos of the Canada Fowarding Company’s installations in Carey Lake and four digital classroom photos from École Sainte-Thérèse in Hearst, in 1951-1952.

The Northern MinerThe collection contains nine photos, showing the logging village’s installations and members of the Morneau family, from 1953 to 1961.
Morneau, YvonThe collection consists of copies of interviews, programs, commentaries and news reports aired on Sudbury radio and television stations, including CKSO, CHNO and CBC, from 1958-66. All are related to trade unions in Ontario, but most of the events and activities described took place in the Sudbury region. Particular reference is made to the struggle between the United Steelworkers of America (USWA), Local 6500, and the International Union of Mine, Mill, and Smelter Workers (IUMMSW), Local 598, to represent the workers in the mining industry. There are reports on the 1958 Mine Mill strike, the USWA raids in Port Colborne and Sudbury, bargaining issues, and trade unions and communism. Prominent union leaders and activists express their opinions on a variety of issues, including David Lewis, Terry Mancini, Ken Smith, Mike Solski, Don Gillis, Nels Thibault, and Larry Sefton. Some of the talks and speeches are by civic leaders such as Mayor John Fabbro as well as politicians from the federal and provincial ridings for the region. A list and description of the tapes provided by the National Archives is also included in the fonds.
The photographs are arranged by subject matter and cover activities in and around the town of Deseronto, Ontario. The majority date from the late nineteenth century and many depict the lumber-related industries of the Rathbun Company in Deseronto. There are also photographs of school groups, churches, railways, First World War airfields and portraits of Deseronto citizens.

The Inco collection documents different aspects of the International Nickel Company of Canada (Inco)'s economic, social, and labour activities. Consisting of photocopies of numerous newspaper clippings, magazine articles, press releases, and transcriptions of interviews and audio reports from 1946 to 1982, the documents inform us of the different events that involved Inco, such as the 1978-1979 strike. Industrial labour relations are documented with numerous reports and other publications. Inco's Collective Bargaining Agreements from 1942 to 1979 are also found in the collection.
Consists of photographs of particularly mining development in Northwestern Ontario in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as the waterfront and shipping, local scenery, and notable figures. Also includes some correspondence; railway construction plans.
