Kortright Waterfowl Park in Guelph which may be closed and sold due to lack of funds, got a helping hand from supporters. They are 390 children attending the Brant Avenue School. They gave Ross Snider, park curator a cheque for $225 to pay for an Australian- Shelduck. Taking part in the presentation were Wanda Matthews, Shelina Juma, Ruth Hirtle, Del Pattison, Bonnie Middleton, Bobby Sanders, Andrea Kashur, and Debbie Shortt.

With the objective of encouraging young poets, the Col. John McCrae Birthplace Society has conducted a verse writing contest among Grade 8 students in all schools of the Wellington County. It is known as the McCrae Medal Competition, and it attracted excellent participation. First prize in the 1975 McCrae Medal Competition was awarded to Shelly Ives, a student at Elora Senior Public School. She is pictured, left, with her prize bronze medal honoring Col. John McCrae. Pictured on the right is second place winner in the contest, Janet Bulmer, a student at College Avenue Public School.
