Woodstock General HospitalThe records of this fonds document the activities and the organization of LEAF Sudbury. It consists of the agreement with LEAF National, annual reports, documentation on the Mary Lue Hinds Award, and correspondence. The documents also provide information about fund-raising events, especially the Person’s Day Breakfast: promotional documentation, programs, photographs and speeches of guest speakers.
The records in this fonds attest to the educational mission of LEAF Sudbury and their interventions. There are records on the Book Project, reports, minutes and other related documentation on LEAF Sudbury’s profile in the community. The fonds also consists of general documentation, such as publications, bulletins and legal reports, which provide information about the activities of LEAF across Canada and at its local branches.

Women's Legal Education and Action Fund. Sudbury BranchThe records from the Victims of Mining Environment (VOME) fonds include their constitution, correspondence, minutes, testimonies, photographs and newspaper clippings. The documents are directly related to the organization of VOME, and the campaigns of the group.
The documents inform researchers about all the campaigns and activities of VOME, and also about health-related work conditions on mine sites. This fonds highlights the determination of a group of women, mostly widowed, who fought on behalf of the widows and families of miners who died from industrial-related diseases and had not received any compensation. The fonds contains records that provide information about the leadership of Jeanne Larcher, who was instrumental in building this grassroots group. The records document the role of VOME in pressuring the Workers' Compensation Board to broaden the recognition of job-related diseases, and allowed for compensation to be awarded to surviving spouses and families. VOME's close working relationship with the Steelworkers Union and the Provincial NDP Party, and their contributions to the Ham Enquiry, the Minister of Labour, and the Workers' Compensation Board are also well documented.
Victims of Mining EnvironmentThis fonds consists of Vesey Brown’s medical education and military certificates and personal correspondence, as well as material relating to Brown and Masingberd family property in London and Morpeth, Ontario. Majority of fonds consists of Series 4 that is Brown's work as watercolour artist, mainly depicting London, Port Stanley and Elgin County.
Brown, Vesey AgmondishamFonds consists of Lindstrom's professorial and scholarly research files throughout her career, as well as records documenting her academic activities. Research files pertain to her publications and monographs such as "Defiant Sisters : A Social History of Finnish Immigrant Women in Canada, 1890-1930" (both the English and Finnish editions), and "From Heroes to Enemies : Finns in Canada, 1937-1947," as well as book chapters, articles, papers, presentations and lectures, and her involvement with the National Film Board production "Letters from Karelia," and subsequent research. The research files span the activities of Finnish and Finnish-Canadian organizations across the political spectrum, such as the Finnish Organization of Canada (left wing), and Loyal Finns in Canada (right wing). Records include oral history interviews (audio cassettes and transcripts), research notes, clippings, a significant and extensive number of photograph and letter collections passed down through generations of Finnish Canadians, diaries, correspondence, publication drafts, academic and professorial notes, microfilm of Finnish language newspapers published in Canada and archival records, financial records of Finnish-Canadian organizations such as newspapers and post-World War II relief funding bodies, scrapbooks, photocopies of rare and unusual documents such as two volumes of a Soviet register of Finnish War Crimes, a list of persons found in the mass grave at Karhumaki, and Soviet lists of North American Finns who journeyed to Karelia to help build a socialist utopia there, academic and professorial files, publicity files, files pertaining to her work with the School of Women's Studies, and her own papers as a university student. The fonds also includes letters written by Lindstrom as a newly-arrived teenaged immigrant to Canada to her best friend in Finland; many of these letters were published in Finnish with English translation in 'Letters from an immigrant teenager' in 2012.
Lindström, VarpuFonds consists of a scrapbook started by the Class President of the 1946 September Class, Margaret Smith, as well as a letter to the UHN Archives from class member Joyce Kinslow, outlining the origins of the scrapbook. The scrapbook was originally kept in a binder. Ms. Smith kept the scrapbook up to date for a span of 60 years by having a page or pages dedicated to each graduate. Graduates would send pictures and notes to Margaret throughout the years for inclusion on their page in the scrapbook. The scrapbook would be shared and updated at class reunions and subsequently came to be held by Joyce Kinslow. Affixed to the pages of the scrapbook are photographs, letters, typed and handwritten entries, business cards, announcements, newspaper clippings, obituaries, menus for official gatherings, and a commemorative booklet, <i>The Nurses’ Alumnae Association of the Toronto Western Hospital’s Diamond Jubilee 1898-1958</i>.

The Sudbury History of Nursing Group fonds attests not only to the group’s activities in developing and conducting their oral history project, but moreover it conveys an important part of the history nursing. Indeed, the fonds contains records documenting the management of such a project, such as: the history of the project, its goals and objectives, as well as all forms developed by the group to meet all requirements in conducting such a project. Moreover, it contains the original tape recordings of the 42 interviews of the retired nurses and their transcriptions, and some printed images of nurses interviewed and graduating classes. There is also a biographical profile of each nurse interviewed, who graduated from different Schools in Ontario, British Columbia, and Québec. Some of the nurses graduated in England, Ireland and the United States. All worked in Northern Ontario. The interview addresses not only different aspects of their work but also the context of their training and education as well as their family life.

Sudbury History of Nursing GroupThis fonds attests to the activities and involvement of the Sudbury and District Ministerial Association (SDMA) in the community. The fonds contains their constitution, minutes and related papers, general correspondence, cash books, reports, pamphlets and mailing lists. The records are directly related to the organization of SDMA.
More specifically, this fonds documents the social and educational involvement of an organization of Protestant churches in the Sudbury region. The cooperation of SDMA with several community-based organizations, as well as the participation of SDMA with regard to inter-church activities, is well documented. SDMA was involved in activities in the community such as: radio and television broadcasts of Sunday services, a nursing school at Memorial Hospital, help for addiction and alcoholism, an emergency counselling service, religious education, a Northern Ontario home for unwed mothers, helping the families of strikers, weekly services at Pioneer Manor and the Sudbury Sanatorium, and submitting a report to the Royal Commission on Bilingualism and Biculturalism.
There are no documents for the year 1960, and very few documents for the years 1955 and 1959.

St. Joseph's Hospital (Chatham, Ont.)
The fonds consists of records concerning the St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Chatham. It contains material related to the hospital, the school, the student nurses, and the Alumnae Association. The fonds contains correspondence, pamphlets, booklets, newsletters, promotional material, scrapbooks, photo albums, yearbooks, a diploma, a nursing kit, a crest, two large, matted photographs of graduation classes, and news clippings related to the school, the hospital, the students, and the alumnae. It also includes a variety of photographs of student nurses, student life, the school, the hospital, hospital staff, and alumnae events, and memorabilia from alumni and graduation events.
The Alumnae Association was dedicated to connecting the students and preserving the history of the school. The Alumnae Association’s newsletters, event preparations, treasurer’s book, annual report, constitutions, and bylaws are present.
Notable material directly concerning St. Joseph’s Hospital includes a 1957 constitution and moral code of the medical staff and a list of administrators. There is also a list of the directors of the School of Nursing.
