File consists of a series of correspondence sent from County Devon to relatives in Port Hope. Letters written to William Rowden and Mary Grace Rowden, and provide insight into the conditions in rural England, compared to Port Hope. Envelopes are also included in this file. Letters written to William Rowden, addressed to him as "Dear Brother" and to Grace Haskill, addressed as "Dear Niece." The letters are written by Mary Lewis, wife of George Lewis of Bideford, Devon, England and Grace Branch of Bideford, Devon England. Also one written by "Lizzie" to Grace Haskill; addressed "Dear Cousin." Also sisters Grace and Maria are mentioned in the letters. Letters discuss family, health, weather and crops between 1896 and 1910.

Item is a Letter of Administration of the Estate of Timothy Curtis Haskill, who died on 6 Dec 1885 in Port Hope. He died intestate and his mother Ann Haskill was granted the right of paying his debts and distributing the remains of his estate.

Item is the Powe Family Bible, 1847-1889. The bible originally belonged to Robert Powe and Catherine Parsons, natives of Bideford, Devon, England. Family births and deaths are recorded on the last page of the Bible. Entries between 1847 and 1889. Notes written in pencil on the last page show the last entry is regarding the death of William Parsons Powe who died 15 Sep 1916.

Item is a funeral notice card for Elizabeth McGinnis Gordon, d. 1923. Elizabeth McGinnis (d. 1923) wife of the late Thomas Gordon, died in Toronto on 29 Dec 1923. Funeral took place from the family residence, Victoria Street, Port Hope to the Church of Our Lady of Mercy and then to the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Toronto Road.
