Fonds consist of three Tweedsmuir scrapbooks compiled by the Carmel Women's Institute and nine volumes of minute books.

The scrapbooks contain newspaper clippings, photographs, and reports of local history and the Carmel Women's Institute. Subjects covered within the scrapbooks are World War II, excursions of the group, local businesses and news about the community.

The minute books cover the years 1949-2001 and include accounting information for the Institute. Some have lists of meetings, attendance registers and lists of members.

File consists of a ledger book including meeting minutes from the Port Hope Old Boys and Girls Association, Toronto Branch, 1923-1928. The book includes many historically important Port Hope Names (i.e. Brockenshire, Snell, Baulch, Merrifield, Skitch, Mackie, Byrne, Davidson, Lockington, Craig, Hacker, McLennan, Clarke, Kelly, McMahon, Wright, Martin, Kerr, etc.). Early meetings were held in the home of William Skitch (311 Jarvis Street, Toronto), with E.C. Merrifield serving as Secretary.

File contains one page of the "List of Voters for the year commencing 1st January, 1886, the Polling District No. 1, Ward 1, North in the Town of Port Hope, in the Electoral District of the East Riding of the County of Durham, Ontario." The List contains the names of those eligible to vote, their place of residence, post office addresses, "Nature of Qualification" (real property, son of owner, etc.), Municipality, Location (street address), Title to Qualifying Property (tenant or owner), Name of Parent, if the voter is qualified as a son of a farmer or other owner of real property also nature of parents title to real property.

Voters list is only partial, listing 130 names from A to M. The reverse has pasted on "1886 List of Voters PORT HOPE" and written above in blue pencil "Port Hope Mechanics Institute". It appears that this list which was used for the 1886 provincial election was used as a reference list of some sort for the Institute to draw members

Subjects covered within the scrapbooks are programmes, banquets and miscellaneous events.

The fonds consists of Dr. Vanarsdale Blakslee's personal and medical business receipts between the years of 1915 and 1940. There are receipts for medical supplies, tax receipts, and personal receipts such as household bills and car repairs. Many of the medical supply invoices are for products shipped by mail from Toronto or Montreal. Some of these companies in Toronto include: J.F Hartz Co. Limited, Ingram & Bell, Ethical Drug Products Limited, and from Montreal Frank W. Horner Limited, Manufacturing Chemists. The majority of the receipts are from local businesses in Belleville and surrounding areas such as: F.W Jeffery Harware Merchant, Midland, Ontario, F.S Anderson Co. Genuine Scranton Coal, W.H Lattimer Druggist Belleville, Sprague the Cleaner, Greenleaf's Garage Machine Shop Foundry Electrical Contractors, R. Oliphant & Son Butchers, McLaughlin Motor Car Company, Quinte Bicycle Store, The Belleville Pharmacy, E.D Finkle Electrical Contractor, J.S McKeown The Prescription Druggist, Porter, Butler and Payne Barristers, Solicitors Notaries Public etc. The Belleville Vulcanizing Co. J.T Warren Chevrolet Garage, Ed. F. Dickens & Son Bakers and Confectioners, Smith Hardware, Chas J. Symons Gents Furnishings, Hats & Caps, A.B Liddle Tailoring, Cleaning, Pressing, Repairing and many more. There are also household bills from the Belleville Gas Department, Belleville Water Works Department, Bell Telephone, Hydro Electric Power Commission and tax receipts from various years.

Collection consists of a large amount of information on Port Hope, the former Township of Hope (Hope Township), and surrounding area. Some of the subjects covered are family histories, churches, hydro power, organizations, clubs and societies, floods, Port Hope harbour, historical information on the town and area, houses, public buildings, industry and small businesses, railways, viaducts and bridges along with original newspapers reflecting on the history of Port Hope as well as information on municipal matters and various government reports. The historical information covers a period from the mid-19th century to 2000. The fonds also consists of a large number of photographs. It also consists of a number of newspaper editions including special editions.
