The fonds contains the papers of John S. Turnbull of Belleville, Ontario. Enclosed in the first file is a description of the property of a Mr. Forrin; a notice instructing Mr. Turnbull to pay Mr. James Anderson eleven pounds, ten shillings by Mr. James Turnbull; and a description of the west side of Front Street. The second file consists of items relating to Turnbull's estate including a list of properties he owned, a list of personal effects, the last will and testament of Margaret Campbell, the first and final wills of John Turnbull, and documents pertaining to a dispute over his estate by his family after his death, there is also a map of mineral reserves in Marmora. The third file is composed of various real estate contracts, the fourth file consists of real estate deeds, while the fifth file is made up of real estate leases.

Journals, writings, and photographs describing the work of railway construction in the early 1900s.

Fonds consists of four (4) blueprints/floor plans of the Port Hope Hospital that was located on Ward Street, c1915. The blueprints were created for the construction of the "old" hospital by Ellis & Ellis Architects, Toronto. They include: First Floor, Second Floor, East Elevation, and South Elevation.

Series consists of correspondence, plans and newspaper clippings regarding the 1933 building projects.

15 images rescued from the Sir James Whitney School for the Deaf in the 1980s. The images date from the early 1950s and are pasted on to card. They were used in teaching children at the school. They depict buildings in Belleville, Ontario: the Armouries; the Government Dock (printed image from a brochure); Deacon Brothers Ltd. The collection also includes a colour print of 'Keep BCI in the Picture' a reproduction of 'East Side, West Side' by Eve Lucy, printed by Market High as part of the campaign BCIVS 2000, commiteeted to keeping the Belleville Collegiate Institute and Vocational School building as part of the Belleville landscape.

Consists of records about the Laskay Emporium which was bought from the Blacks by the Arbuckles about 1947 and donated to Black Creek Pioneer Village about 1960.

Frederick O. Robinson was born in Port Arthur, Ontario on Aug. 2, 1903. He attended public and high school in Port Arthur and then served his apprenticeship to the machinist trade in the C.N.R. shops. He worked for 25 years as a skilled machinist in the Port Arthur shops of the C.N.R. until his election to the Ontario legislature in 1943. He continued to work as a C.N.R. machinist between sessions of the legislature, and after his election to the office of mayor, he worked in the C.N.R. shops on weekends.

He entered public life in January 1943 when he was elected to the Port Arthur Board of Education. In August of the same year he was elected to the Ontario legislature as C.C.F. member for Port Arthur. He was M.L.A. for Port Arthur until his defeat in 1951. In civic affairs, he remained on the Board of Education until 1946 when he was elected as alderman. In 1949, he became Mayor of Port Arthur; he remained in this post except for 1952 when he was defeated until 1955 when he resigned to become personnel manager for the Public Utilities Commission. He left active political life at this time. He resigned from the Public Utilities Commission in 1966 because of ill health. In July, 1969, he died.

The Frederick O. Robinson fonds comprises 7 feet of correspondence, clippings, pamphlets, articles and other material and is contained in seventeen transfer cases. The folder titles in the main are those designated by Mr. Robinson. Some re-arrangement of the material has been effected in order to comply with the folder titles. Since the folders themselves were in no apparent order when .they were donated to the university, the following arrangement was thought to be most suitable for research purposes:

The fonds consists of one ledger consisting of minutes and financial information of the Harrington Branch, Upper Canadian Bible Society dated 10 December 1873 – 5 May 1963.

The fonds consists of records related to Paul Edell's business and community activities. Included is business and synagogue correspondence, property documents, certificates and a ledger book.

The fonds includes several government records that Angus would have needed to operate his boat as a leisure vessel. There are four Season Let Passes issued by the Department of Transport over the period 1939 to 1943 for the Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Canal Lock. The other document is a Vessel License issued by the Department of Transport in 1964. The records are arranged in chronological order.

The fonds consists of a large collection of printed material relating to the St. Lawrence Deep Waterway/ St. Lawrence Seaway, 1894-1969. It also contains Canadian and American federal, provincial/state, regional and municipal descriptions, reports, and submissions. There is also material from associations including American pro and anti-St. Lawrence Seaway lobby groups. There are articles from newspapers, magazines and other publications about the Seaway and its costs/benefits. There is also Wright’s manuscript, galleys and reviews of his book “The St. Lawrence Deep Waterway: A Canadian Appraisal” (1935) as well as chronologies and Wright’s talks and submission about the Seaway. There is a small amount of Wright’s correspondence, mostly asking for information about the Seaway. Lastly, there are special newspaper sections about the Seaway as well as maps and oversize documents. The fonds is arranged in five series.
