St. Paul's Anglican Church, Perrytown (1840-)The fonds consists of materials related to the personal and business activities of William Porte. Included are diaries, ledgers, and albums and scrapbooks of newspaper clippings. Some material from two of his children (Fred W. and Ida Kate Porte) is included. William Porte’s papers provide an excellent snapshot in the life of a growing Ontario town in the late 19th century. In recent years, Porte's personal papers have been studied and cited extensively, most notably by those researching the infamous February 4, 1880 murder of the Donnelly family. Porte, William, 1823-1899Photograph showing the first and only location of the Edgeley post office which was also the general store. It was located on the south east corner of Thornhill Sideroad and the Fifth Concession of Vaughan Township, Ontario, now Hwy. 7 and Jane St. Mr. L. Arthur Whitmore, postmaster and general store owner, is seen here putting groceries in a buggy. In the buggy on the right is his father-in-law, William Reid, an Edgeley blacksmith, who was ready to leave for Concord to pick up the mail from the train at the Thornhill station. The Edgeley post office and store was closed on July 12, 1960. It was demolished when Jane St was widened and paved in 1965.
Item is a 1st edition, 1901 copy of "Port Hope Historical Sketches" signed by the author W. Arnot Craick in 1963. Also included is a copy of the prospectus that was created about 1900 for advertising purposes.
The fonds consists of one minute book belonging to Woodstock C.O.C.F. Council No. 82 between the years 1902 and 1905.
Woodstock Canadian Order Chosen Friends (C.O.C.F.) No. 82The fonds consists mostly of letters written by Fanny Gross to her youngest daughter, Edith. There are also letters written by friends and family to Edith and some letters written by Edith. The letters show that Edith travelled frequently from the Gross family home at 200 Colborne Street West in Whitby to visit relatives and friends in other communities. Subjects of discussion include parties, family, travel, and daily life. Fonds also consists of a copy of The Greatest Thing in The World, An Address by Henry Drummond.
Fanny GrossFonds consists of the records relating to the administration and operation of the Brooklin Council No. 102 of the Royal Templars of Temperance. Series are broken down into administrative, financial, membership, and ceremonial records.
Brooklin Council No. 102 of Royal Templars of TemperanceItem is a copy of the publication "Picturesque Port Hope," c. 1910. "Dickenson 28 Inniswood Drive" written on front, and signed "H. Reeve" on back. Believed to have belonged to the Dickenson family and given to Mr. Reeve.
The fonds consists of membership handbooks, receipts, a list of membership fees paid, a calendar of 1904 with corrections, and a minute book.
The Pierian Club (Dundas, Ont.)Item is a souvenir picture booklet of Port Hope. It includes eight (8) small pictures of Port Hope images. Images include: View from viaduct, town hall, Trinity College School, Port Hope High School, Canadian National Viaduct, Port Hope Hospital, Beach, Walton Street and View of Port Hope.
Series consists of materials collected by Harold Reeve while conducting research on the history of the former Hope Township, Ontario. Originals date from c1866-1914. For more information, refer to item-level descriptions.
Reeve, W. HaroldThe fonds consists of 3 boxes of textual records and graphic material about the Ruttan family and Maud Ruttan Way (1889-1952) of Wooler, Ontario, in particular. Includes; diaries, photos, memorial cards, letters, Albert College items, and financial letters.
Ruttan (family)This fonds is composed of records from the Halloway Loyal Orange Lodge #251. Four folders each contain a volume ranging from 1859-1875, 1873-1879, 1800-1883 and 1875-1922 respectively. Each of these volumes contains minutes, accounts, members lists and attendance.

Series consists of land records, financial records, and correspondence related to the sale of John Cleverton's farm located on Lots 29 and 30 of Hamilton Township to Sarah Jane Long and Alfred H.C. Long, 1918-1926.
File consists of a ledger book including meeting minutes from the Port Hope Old Boys and Girls Association, Toronto Branch, 1923-1928. The book includes many historically important Port Hope Names (i.e. Brockenshire, Snell, Baulch, Merrifield, Skitch, Mackie, Byrne, Davidson, Lockington, Craig, Hacker, McLennan, Clarke, Kelly, McMahon, Wright, Martin, Kerr, etc.). Early meetings were held in the home of William Skitch (311 Jarvis Street, Toronto), with E.C. Merrifield serving as Secretary.

Item is a cookbook entitled "The Mixing Bowl." It was printed in 1931 as a fundraiser for St. Paul's Presbyterian Church. The booklet is 40 pages long and contains recipes and advertising from local Port Hope businesses.
