The United Church of Canada’s involvement with partnerships with the Middle East began in the Justice, Global and Ecumenical Relations Unit in 2003. Work in the Unit was overseen by Area Secretaries (2002-2004), then Program Coordinators (2005-2010). In 2003, work was coordinated by an Area Secretary for South Asia/Pacific Islands and Middle East. In 2004, the Middle East fell under the work of the Area Secretary for East & Central Africa and The Middle East. From 2005-2009, work related to the Middle East was coordinated by a Program Coordinator for East & Central Africa and the Middle East.
From 2010 until the end of 2012, work related to the Middle East was part of the Partners in Mission Unit. The Africa and Middle East program was overseen by Program Coordinator, Wendy Gichuru.
In 2013, the Communities in Ministry and Partners in Mission units were merged to create Church in Mission. In the Church in Mission Unit, work related to Africa and Middle East was a part of Church in Partnership, the work divided up by Team Leaders and Program Coordinators.

The purpose of the education and exposure visits was to foster a deeper involvement in issues of system justice by developing a relationship with a global partner in their own context.
Twinning was a project of the DWO which was developed, coordinated and resourced by the Education for Engagement program of the division in 1996. Twinning was a program for people in congregations or groups of The UCC who wished to enter into a long-term, sustained and mutual relationship with a congregation or group of a UCC overseas partner church or organization and vice versa.
The United for Peace Campaign launched in 2007. The campaign was developed out of deep concern for the people of Israel and Palestine. The campaign’s goal was to raise funds to support non-violent ways to seek peace with justice for the Israeli and Palestinian communities and the ethnic populations within their nations. The focus of the campaign was later broadened to reflect the UCC’s fundamental commitment to peace and support for all who work toward a just peace in Canada and other parts of the worlds.

UntitledResources Centres were hubs for the distribution of United Church produced material. The Resource Distribution Department and UCRD worked with Presbytery and Conference resource centres and outlets across Canada to deliver a comprehensive range of United Church and other recommended resources, bringing information, advice and resource access to church members. Under the umbrella of Resources Centres were Book Rooms: retail outlets overseen by the Conferences and Presbyteries. AVEL outlets were also under this umbrella offering free AV resources to Conferences. At some point some AVEL Outlets began to sell resources in order to counteract a lack of funding.
