Prize Winning Rose

This photograph shows the rose that won the Canadian Rose Society Medal at the Guelph Horticultural Society early summer flower show. The rose belonged to Miss Geraldine Hay, who had grown this species, the hybrid tea peace rose with 30 other species in her garden.

Guelph Constables Paul Nestman (left) and Bob Carpenter (right) were selected to join the OPP's stunt motorcycle team the Golden Helmets. The team trained during the summer and performed after Labour Day. The Golden Helmets rode Harley Davidson 1200 Police Specials.

The Ontario Horticultural Association (OHA) awarded the Elora Horticultural Society with a trophy during the OHA convention that took place in Windsor June 15-18, 1977. Elora had the highest increase in membership that year. Presenting the trophy is Alistair Crawford, former OHA president (left). Elora Horticultural Society executives Marjorie Dunford (secretary, treasurer) and Harvey Gerrie (past president) accepted the trophy.

Jessie Bradshaw (left) was given the Mildred Tovell Award for most outstanding lily in the single stem category at the Guelph Horticultural Society's Lily and Perennial Exhibition. The exhibition was held at Willow West Mall. Show Chairman Walter G. Hayward (right) presented the award. The winning lily was an orange spotted lily with 11 blooms and 19 buds.

This photograph shows some of the riders who participated in a trail ride after raising money for the Central Ontario Developmental Riding Program. The program offered recreational therapy for people with orthopedic disabilities. Participants raised money to sponsor riders for the 20 mile backwoods trail ride.
