Clendenan-Thompson family fonds

The fonds contains three volumes. Volume 1, 1828-1846 is the account book of Daniel Clendenan of Louth Township, Lincoln County. Volume 2, 1850-1879, begun by Daniel Clendenan and continued by Andrew Thompson, includes accounts, diary entries and recipes. Volume 3, 1880-1899 is the diary of Andrew Thompson. Volume 3, the personal diary of Andrew Thompson, briefly notes the climatic conditions and the social happenings within the Clendenan and Thompson families and events and happenings in the vicinity. The fonds also includes two bound photocopies of Volume 3, 1880-1899.

Fonds consists of a marriage contract between John Geale Dickson and Matilda McMurray, December 11, 1868; the probated will of William Dickson Jr., January 25, 1877; and the non-probated will of Florence Augusta Dickson, February 15, 1911. Also included is a preliminary inventory of the William Dickson papers dated December 7, 1954 that were transferred to the Department of Public Records and Archives on indefinite loan by Col. C.G.M. Grier, 18 June 1953.

Dr. Frederick C. Drake collection

Materials related to military operations of the 1812-era, research of the late Dr. Frederick C. Drake, of the History Department at Brock University. Original folder titles, pertaining to an institutions call numbers, were retained and appear in parenthesis after the given folder title. The folders were placed into the Series and/or Sub-series which coincided with its original title. Folder titles contain the title of the material as well as the institution from which it derived in order for proper accreditation to be given, before materials are used and/or cited in a publication. Folders titled “Individual or Family Papers” contain numerous different collections of letters from the Institution marked on the folder. When the bulk of the materials belong to one collection it is noted in the finding aid. All publications which the University did not hold were placed in series IV. If the University had access to the publications they were removed from the collection and noted in the separated materials category with their call numbers.
