Fonds consists of a volume entitled “Manual of Seamanship, Volume One” (BR 67) originally published in 1937 and reproduced in Canada in 1942. Admiralty printed books and pamphlets issued to the Navy in the BR (Books of Reference) series, which did not need inclusion in the security classified CB or SP series. They include regulations and instructions, handbooks and training manuals, reports and works of reference. The manual details marine life, giving information on naval routines, navigation, various parts of a ship and how to go about working with said parts, life saving, provisions and signals.

Fonds consists of a British Admiralty publication that is part of the Confidential Reference Books (CB) series and is entitled “The Technical History and Index: A Serial History of Technical Problems Dealt with By Admiralty Departments Volume 3 Part 37 Inception and Development of the Northern Base.” The document was created in response to a request for an account of technical developments relating to the establishment and reduction of the Northern Base. The Northern Base was located at Scapa Flow in the Orkney Islands, Scotland, United Kingdom. The base was used as Great Britain’s primary Northern Naval Base during the First and Second World Wars. This includes reports regarding communication throughout the islands; fuel and water supply; dockyard work; fleet repair work; and provisions required for the base and its ships.

Collection consists of miscellaneous admission and call certificates issued by the Law Society of Upper Canada in the 19th century and early 20th century.

Fonds consists of five volumes of various documents pertaining to the Advisory Committee on Northern Development (ACND). This includes minutes of meetings, correspondence, memoranda, maps, graphical records, numerical summaries and interdepartmental committee reports. The third volume includes a translation of a Russian document, entitled “In the Heart of the Arctic”, that was prepared by the Defence Scientific Information Service of the Defence Research Board in 1955. Among others, items discussed at the ACND meetings include the following: Inuit settlement, the Northwest Highway System, petroleum in the Arctic, proposed pipelines, oil exploration, arctic expeditions, US hydrographic operations, arctic re-supply, United States Air Force (USAF) activities, the Distant Early Warning Line, the Mid-Canada Line, airstrips in the Far North, navigation in the Hudson Strait and hydroelectric developments in the Yukon.
