File consists of records relating to the Centennial dinner meeting held November 14, 1985. There is a letter to the Right Honourable Roland Michener asking him to be a guest speaker at the November meeting due to his role as one of the organizers of the 50th anniversary celebration dinner of the Association in 1936 (August 14, 1985), as well as letters inviting Presidents of legal societies to attend the dinner meeting (October 22, 1985).
File consists of the records relating to the creation and distribution of The County of York Law Association’s Centennial Medals. There is a report regarding a Medal for the 100th Anniversary of the County of York Law Association written by Kenneth Jarvis which looks at the differences between stamped versus cast medals, (April 15, 1985). There is correspondence regarding the association’s insignia, drawings for the medal, and the design of the medal (with a decision to retain Kenneth Jarvis’ services as a designer). Correspondence includes discussion of the cases for the medals, the costs of the medals based on the amount and type ordered, and the decision to limit the number of medals created to one hundred. There are invoices from Medallic Art Company, an invoice from Kenneth Jarvis for his design work, as well as correspondence regarding his invoice and payment. There are letters presenting the medals to individuals as an appreciation of their support in the marking of the Centennial, including letters sent to the Mayor of the City of Toronto, the Chairman of the Council of the Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto, John D. Honsberger for writing the Centennial History, the Librarian Administrator Anna MacIver, and the Association’s Librarian Jessie MacBeth. There is a memo regarding offering the Centennial medals for sale and the commission owed to Jarvis if this was to take place, discussion of who owns the copyright (April 2, 1986), and a memo regarding the taxation of the medals as tangible goods (September 22, 1986). Other documents include the Centennial Medal Cards to be presented with the medal which contain a translation of the writing on the medals and a description of what the images mean.
File consists of the records relating to the Past Presidents’ Dinner, held October 17, 1985. There is correspondence regarding the use of Convocation Hall for the dinner, draft and final versions of the invitation to send out to guests for the dinner, and letters from invitees stating their responses. Documents in the file include memos regarding costs of the dinner based on number of persons attending, and a memo regarding the planning of the Programme and other details of the dinner (September 18, 1985). There are lists of past presidents, excerpts from meeting minutes where the presidents elected for each year are listed (1931-1945), and a list of past presidents and trustees who will be attending the dinner.
