The fonds consists of minute and cash books, Tweedsmuir history books, photographs, house histories, local histories, and subject files pertaining to the activities of the Yarker-Colebrook Women’s Institute. There are two Tweedsmuir histories in the fonds. One of the Tweedsmuirs is more traditional in scope; it focuses on the history of the villages and the Women’s Institute. The traditional Tweedsmuir contains photographs of the village of Colebrook, including pictures of Main Street before the fire, newspaper articles, information and photographs of boys who served in World War II, information from the Canada Directory pertaining to the area, from 1857 and 1858, pictures of past Yarker-Colebrook Presidents, a history of Yarker, including its settlement and the evolution of the Simcoe Falls, and a history of Colebrook. The second Tweedsmuir is a collection of newspaper clippings and was mainly assembled by Mrs. William Jackson. It contains a number of articles about the Royal Family, including photographs from magazines. It also has some history of Women’s Institute work, articles about World War I and World War II, a history of Brookside School, as well as photographs of members and programmes.
