Cleverton Farm, Lot 29 & 30 Hamilton Township

Series consists of land records, financial records, and correspondence related to the sale of John Cleverton's farm located on Lots 29 and 30 of Hamilton Township to Sarah Jane Long and Alfred H.C. Long, 1918-1926.

"Echoes from the Minute Books: Notes on the Proceedings of the Board of Police of Port Hope, 1834-1849"

File consists of an essay written by H. R. S. Ryan on the 100th anniversary of the Baldwin Act. The essay was published in "Ontario History" in 1950 under the title "Echoes from the Minute books: Notes on the proceedings of the Board of police of Port Hope, 1834-1849" pages 184-204. The essay details early history of the town and its residents. Footnotes are given to document sources. It also includes the original transcript of the essay by H. R. S. Ryan.

Long Collection Port Hope Publications

Series consists of nine (9) publications related to the history of the Municipality of Port Hope, 1901-1984. It includes: (1) "Excerpts from the 'Grapevine'" by Miss Pearl Wilson; (2) "Notes on St. Mark's Church, Port Hope" by Agatha Simister (2 copies); (3) "Historic Port Hope, 1834-1984" Map; (4) "Port Hope Centennial and Old Boy's and Girl's Re-Union" Programme, 1934 (copy); (5) "Port Hope: A Brief History in Picture and Prose," by Geo. V. Strong; (6) "Picturesque Port Hope," by W. Williamson; (7) "The Ganaraska Review, Volume One Number 1, September 1988," by Port Hope Original Group. This series also includes a copy of "Picturesque Port Hope" and the "Port Hope Old Boys Re-Union Souvenir 1901" located in the Reading Room Reference Collection.

Series consists of papers and certificates related to the membership of Thomas Long Sr. and Alfred Henry Clark Long in the Masonic Lodge, 1874-1937. It includes: certificates of membership and achievement within the Masonic Lodge and the International Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF); event invitations and programs; correspondence; receipts for dues paid; and newsletters.

Item is a 1st edition, 1901 copy of "Port Hope Historical Sketches" signed by the author W. Arnot Craick in 1963. Also included is a copy of the prospectus that was created about 1900 for advertising purposes.
