Brazilian Menu collection

Collection consists of menus from various regions of Brazil. Restaurants are located in Sobra-Loja, Rio de Janeiro, Londrina, Sao Paulo, Leblon, Bahia, and Sao Lourenco. Bar fare, breakfast menus, steakhouse, hamburger house, and pan-American cuisine are just some types of dishes and restaurant represented.

A portion of the menus are from hotels. Menu types include trifold, booklet, seven-fold, placemat and bookmark style. Several menus are laminated or in vinyl enclosures. A portion of the menus have prices written in by hand in various colours of ink and are stained.

Menus types included placemat menus, single sheet menus, trifold and four fold menus, five fold, seven fold and menus in booklet style. Some menus are laminated while others are in vinyl enclosures. Menus range from take away and delivery, to eat in and include wine lists, menus for cafes, breakfast menus and menus for cafeteria lunches.

The material is divided into Series 1 Menus. The series is divided into 6 subseries: Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania and South America.

Colour slides depicting various sights in and around Sudbury in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Some of the slides are numbered suggesting they were part of a larger slideshow on Sudbury. Slides may have been collected to support claims related to the city expropriation of properties on Borgia Street in the 1960s. Slides were produced by various studios in Ontario.

The collection consists of movie posters, ads, trading cards, postcards, books, magazines, journals, related to Frank Buck (Frank Howard Buck (1884-1950), a renowned American hunter, animal collector, film director, actor author and producer, material related to zoo displays and architecture, catalogues and books related to zoo and animal collecting, photographs off various zoo related animals found in different parts of America and a board game. The material is divided into five series:

David Newhouse collection

This collection is comprised of research files, published articles, government documents, reports and supporting documents all pertaining to Aboriginal issues in Canada. The materials were deposited by the Indigenous Studies Department, Trent University. Some documents were reallocated to the Government Documents section of Bata Library, some were returned to the Indigenous Studies Department, and those deemed to be of archival value are represented herein.

Orgill family collection

Collection consists of nine Boyd family photograph albums, 14 glass plate negatives, and several strip negatives. The images depict the lives and activities of the Boyd family of Bobcaygeon, Ontario, and include lumbering scenes, Trent Canal steamboats, buffalo/Hereford animals, and travel excursions. Also included are three "Gypsy" photographs (Peterborough, 1909), and photographs of winter sporting activities. Several photographs depict family members; many are unidentified. Also included in this collection are copies of the wills of WT.C. Boyd and Mossom Boyd.

Collection is comprised of approximately 4200 slides of photographs pertaining primarily to the Canadian and Greenland Arctic. The photographs were taken during the 1970s to 1990s by Roger Buxton and are identified and dated. Also included are aerial views of Trent University (14 September 1985), photographs of the aftermath of the Barrie, Ontario tornado (31 May 1985), and photographs of family and scenic landscapes.

Richard L. Frost postcard collection

Collection consists of 287 post cards from communities throughout Peel, collected by Richard L. Frost. While assembled from a variety of sources by Frost as a private citizen, he was then the Chief Administrative Officer for the Region of Peel.

Specifically pictured in the selection are Alton, Belfountain, Bolton, Brampton, Caledon Township, Caledon East, Cataract. Cheltenham, Churchville, Clarkson, Cooksville, Dixie, Eldorado Park, Erindale, Forks of the Credit, Huttonville, Inglewood, Lorne Park, Malton, Meadowvale, Mississauga, Port Credit, and Streetsville. Limited postcards from outside Peel are included, showing Norval, Owen Sound, and Port Hope.

Kodak Heights collection

Collection features images from various locations at the Kodak Heights facility and significant moments throughout their history. Included are photos of the company's first location on Colbourne Street; use of the building as military barracks during WWI; and images of Kodak founder, George Eastman, visiting Kodak Heights.

Lambton House slide collection

Collection consists of 35mm slides collected by Heritage York over the years. Included are many reproductions of historic photographs depicting built history in the former City of York; the restoration of the Lambton House; Heritage York events; and other materials used for various local history talks and presentations.

Alex McIlvena Collection

The collection consists of 18 albums containing over 230 pages of 5 x 7 cyanotype photographs that photo-document the construction of the Peterborough Lift Lock in chronological order. Each album has a title such as: "Concrete: Main Walls and Wings", "Pit Excavation", "Hydro Lock Culvert", "Stone Pitching", "Taylor Air Compressor" and so on. The albums were likely produced for the Trent Canal or the federal Department of Public Works.

Mel and Grace Bryce collection

Collection consists of lantern slides from the personal collection of Mel Bryce. These slide would have been used as part of Bryce's local history lectures. The images predominately document the changing landscape and architecture of York Township and surrounding areas from the 1850s - 1950s, including Lambton Mills, The Humber Dam, Lambton Tavern, and Dundas Street. Also included is Bryce's Spencer Lens Company Delineascope Model D projector, which he would have used for his lectures.

Lantern slides were very popular during the time for academic, commercial, and religious purposes. The lantern slides among Bryces collection represent many examples created by producers from the Toronto area. Included are those produced by The Ryerson Press; United Church Publishing House; Charles Potter; The Methodist Book and Publishing House; Presbyterian Publications; as well as many unmark lantern slides.

Many of the images featured are also found in "York Township: An Historical Summary, 1850-1954", written by J.C Boylen. Compared to the black & white reproductions in the book, many of those same images are rendered in brilliant handpainted colours on the slides, including many photographs by Toronto photographer James V. Salmon (1911-1958).

Collection comprises photographs of the two First World War Royal Flying Corps training camps at Deseronto, Ontario and notes for an unpublished book, Wings Over Deseronto, on the history of the camps. Camp Mohawk and Camp Rathbun were in operation between May 1917 and November 1918, training men to be pilots for the Western Front. The photographs in this collection are originals and reproductions depicting the aircraft, staff and cadets of the Royal Flying Corps, principally in the Deseronto camps, but also at Camps Borden and Leaside (Ontario) and Camp Taliaferro, in Fort Worth, Texas.

R. Douglas Bell collection

Collection consists of an account of Dr. R. Douglas Bell's experiences while serving as a naval medical officer during the Second World War. The epilogue includes a list of all British destroyers lost during the war and information on Canadian medical personnel lost. The manuscript consists of 149 pages and includes illustrations.
