The volumes may contain sketches and drawings, notes on artistic learning and practice, diaristic writing, personal reflections, travel journaling, and memoranda (such as addresses and upcoming dates). Specific contents vary over time and according to the character of a particular volume. Goodwin typically maintained more than one notebook at the same time, so that the dates of individual volumes tend to overlap significantly.

This series consists of video cassettes documenting Betty Goodwin’s collaboration with Montreal dancer/choreographer Paul-Andre Fortier and Fortier danse-création on La Tentation de la Transparence (1992) and Bras de Plomb (1994), parts two and three of Paul-Andre Fortier’s solo trilogy. It also includes working drawings of the costume Betty Goodwin designed for Fortier for his performance of Bras de Plomb, as well as videos documenting some of Fortier’s earlier dance performances and the dress rehearsal of Collisions by Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal, on which Betty Goodwin also collaborated.

Series consists of personal correspondence received, notably from John Ivor Smith, and several letters of congratulations to Betty Goodwin. The series also contains correspondence from Betty Goodwin, including three letters never sent, a travel itinerary from 1984 to Europe to secure venues for her exhibition Betty Goodwin: Works from 1971-1987, notes on the Rose & Jacob Rudich family and a 1944 sketchbook of Moe Bennett, with an inscription on the last page in Betty’s handwriting regarding Martin Goodwin. The “Letters” file also contains magazine article clippings on various subjects.
