Business Records series

This series contains the business records of Archibald McLachlin and family members. Correspondence and accounts pertaining to the Fort Erie property, the Potter purchase, the Thomson estate, and the Colin Munro estate are included.

Personal Papers series

This series contains personal correspondence written to Archibald McLachlin and his family members, financial records, and various discrete items.

Returning Officer for West Elgin and East Elgin series

This series contains correspondence and other records pertaining to Archibald McLachlin’s position as returning Officer for West Elgin County for the election years 1878, 1879, and 1882, and the returning Officer for East Elgin County for the election year 1886. Letters from the Attorney General Department, voter registration sheets, polling station reports, and copies of the Dominion Election Act and Ontario Election Act are included. Also included are unused ballots for the 1882 Dominion election in the West riding of Elgin County. The ballots are erroneously dated “1822.”

Walter McBrien series

This series contains various receipts for Walter McBrien, as well as stock and bond receipts and select correspondence for the Dr. Wells Company.
