Architectural and Technical Drawings

Series consists of architectural and technical drawings of airplanes and helicopters during 1940-1973. Also includes aircraft identification markings and finish scheme charts as well as drawings of aircraft marking features including the Canadian ensign and RCAF Roundel.

Directorate of Procurement - Aircraft (DPA) Reports

Series consists of Directorate of Procurement - Aircraft (DPA) reports, three volumes of which primarily document the physical stocks and contract positions of aircraft. Also includes reports on the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP) and Western Hemisphere Operations (WHO). Arranged in chronological order.

Manuals, Publications and Reports

Series consists of various Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) publications. Includes course syllabi from training and catalogues of materiel from RCAF Engineering Orders. Series also comprises three amended directories of Hinterland Aerodromes. Arranged in alphabetical order by title.

Miscellaneous Photographs (76/107)

Series consists of miscellaneous photographs documenting the activities and operations of the Royal Air Force (RAF), Royal Flying Corps (RFC), and the Royal Canadian Air Force between 1903 and 1964. Includes 2 boxes of oversize photographs primarily depicting group shots of squadrons and training camps. Series also contains a booklet of captioned photographs taken throughout the RCAF Hudson Straits Expedition of 1927-1928 (76/107).

Operations Records Books and Diaries (Microfilm)

Series consists of the Royal Canadian Air Force Operations Record Books, (ORBs) which outline the activities, flying operations and other events related to Canadian squadron, groups, training schools, stations and other units of the pre-integration air force. Each unit was required to fill out a daily entry which would be approved by the officer commanding as documenting the activities of the unit. Appendices to the ORB are often included which provide further details on the operations and often provide some documentary evidence of the social life of the unit.

RCAF and AIRCOM Major Equipment Registration Ledger

Series consists of one large Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and Air Command (AIRCOM) major equipment (instructional aircraft and engines) registration ledger. The register lists such details as aircraft type, the contract file number, the manufacturer, the manufacturer’s serial or registration number, the particulars of installations, general remarks and other relevant information. Also includes five colored photographs of various RCAF aircraft.

Fonds consists of textual and photographic records documenting the history of the Royal Canadian AIr Force (RCAF). Includes extensive records detailing the operational activities of the RCAF, particularly aerial bombing missions during the Second World War. Also includes information on aircraft, major equipment (instructional engines), training, and military life. There are 9 series:
