Administrative history
The Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF), Alexandra Lodge No. 337, was officially established on April 26th, 1901 in the community of Dutton, Ontario. Initially founded in England, the IOOF was a charitable organization devoted to providing financial assistance to individuals in need or worthy humanitarian causes. While part of an international organization, the Alexandra Lodge remained under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Ontario, which grouped its lodges into numerous geographical districts. However, at the local level, the lodge was governed by various officers and committees. At the foundation of the lodge, the executive officers consisted of Thompson Smith (Noble Grand), A. E Cantelon (Vice Grand), W.B. Seer (Rec. Secretary), W.H. Barnum (Fin. Secretary) and Ed. H Hunt (Treasurer). In addition, a finance, property, visiting, membership and by-law committee was established. The Alexandra Lodge continued to operate until 1999 when it was formally dissolved. The remaining members were incorporated into Glanworth Lodge No. 389.
