        History

The Major Robert Mutrie Chapter of the IODE (Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire) was founded at the start of the Second World War by Alice Elizabeth Mutrie. She was married to Major Robert Mutrie for whom the chapter was named. Major Mutrie died in action during the First World War at St. Eloi in 1916. The chapter received its charter in November 29, 1939. The motto of the Major Robert Mutrie Chapter is: Honour before Honours.

Local projects for this chapter have included providing books and scholarships to local area schools, assisting local families with needed food or clothing supplies, welcoming of immigrants, planning events for founder’s day and organizing fashion shows and other activities to raise money for charitable projects. Members also assisted with meals on wheels programs and home care services offered by the Victoria Order of Nurses. In addition to local projects the chapter raised funds for overseas projects.
