Administrative history

Grand Bend Pastoral Charge was formed in 1925, formerly Methodist and Presbyterian. The charge included Grand Bend and Greenway as preaching points until 2014, when these two churches amalgamated and changed their name to Huron Shores United Church.

Grand Bend United Church, located at 25 Main Street, was established in 1927, when the former Presbyterian and former Methodist churches of Grand Bend united in one building, previously serving as individual United Church congregations. The Presbyterian church was first built ca. 1872 and the Methodist church, also known as the “White Church,” was built ca. 1874. In the late 1870s, the Methodist circuit consisted of three appointments: White Church, Greenway, and Shipka. Grand Bend United Church amalgamated with Greenway United in 2014, now known as Huron Shores United Church.

Greenway United Church, located at 35976 Greenway Road, Parkhill, was established in 1925, formerly Methodist and Presbyterian. The Methodist church was built in 1875, then known as Boston and would later change its name to Greenway. Corbett Presbyterian church was built in 1887 and operated until general union when it then joined with Greenway Methodist Church; Greenway United Church closed in 2014 and the congregation amalgamated with Grand Bend United Church under their new name of Huron Shores United.
