History
Horace G. Mack was born in Guelph Ontario in 1895. After school, in 1911, he entered the Gilson Manufacturing Company as an office boy. He moved into the position of president in 1927, which he held until his retirement in 1948. Mack was an important naturalist, whose activities varied from establishing sanctuaries on his property such as the Eden and Niska Game sanctuaries, working with the Speed River Flood Control Committee, the Guelph Field Naturalists Club, the Newcomen Society, and the Grand River Conservation Authority. He died May 25, 1959.
