Series consists of various materials created and maintained by the Department of Nutrition Services including a certificate of completion from the pupil dietitian course (1918), newsletters, Christmas dinner menus, course outlines from the Dietetic Internship Program, and programs from graduation and retirement dinners.

This series consists of a draft annual report for 1960 from the TWH Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

This series consists of the results of a research study conducted by the TWH Department of Pathology investigating water jugs as sources of hospital cross-infection.

Subseries consists of newsletters produced by the Pharmacy Department originally entitled Pharmacy Bulletin, and subsequently entitled PMH Pharmafacts. The first Pharmacy Bulletin was issued on June 27, 1966 by Mary Gannon as a result of a new Pharmacy Department policy. Newsletters include drug information relating to hospital procedures, dosage, administration and side-effects, articles by pharmacy staff on new drugs or drug related issues, news items relating to the pharmacy department, and relevant hospital committee updates. The series was originally arranged in four binders in loose chronological order and kept in the departmental library.

Fonds consists of records created and accumulated by The Toronto Hospital Department of Public Affairs and Communications. The fonds includes 12 series:

Subseries consists of photographs and slides created for publicity purposes, and related textual materials. Records include photographs of the hospital, its staff, special events, visitors and equipment, and reflect various aspects of hospital life throughout the years. Some of these photographs were used for OCI publications and annual reports; others were used in displays; and some were set aside for enlargement and cropping. Files 1B.12 - 1B.57 were originally in unlabelled sleeves and loose piles and have been kept in the same order as they were found. No attempt has been made to impose an order on them. Photographs in file 1B.20 appear to be from the opening ceremonies for the hospital on September 25, 1958.

This series consists of records created and maintained by the TWH Department of Radiology. File TW 18-0-1 contains a pamphlet outlining fees charged to patients by the Departments of Radiology and Physiotherapy (1928). File TW 18-0-2 contains a booklet used by the Department of Radiology to note the removal and return to the Hospital of radium seeds used in the treatment of cancerous tumours (1932-1938).

Series consists of Departmental financial records including account statements and journals, a small and miscellaneous sample of patient records including a comprehensive list of patients treated by the Department June 1932-May 1933, and records relating to the Department’s involvement in the radiological examination and identification of the remains of victims of the Noronic disaster in September 1949.

Series consists of instructions to patients for performing rehabilitative exercises; sample blank forms used by the Department in testing patients for diagnostic purposes and in documenting patients’ treatments; blank forms and instruction sheets used in documenting and evaluating the employment activities of Department personnel; and miscellaneous materials (chiefly sample blank forms) used in conducting the daily business of the Department.

This series consists of photographs and photographic negatives created for and maintained by the TWH Department of Rehabilitation Medicine.

Fonds consists of minutes from various strategic planning committees and outgoing correspondence from Michael J. McCartney, Corporate Director of Strategic Planning. The minutes were accumulated by McCartney who served on many of the planning committees.

Series consists principally of operation records and discharge summaries for a selection of Dr. Bigelow's surgical cases, organized by medical problem/ surgical procedure, and used as an aid for diagnosis and the determination of appropriate surgical procedures for use with new patients. These files were also used for research purposes in preparing case study reports and statistical analyses of specific surgeries. Some of the files are subdivided by facets of the medical problem/ surgical procedure exemplified: for example, File 0094-10-0-10 subdivides records exemplifying patent ductus arteriosus surgery into sections devoted to "division" and "ligation".

This series consists of records created and maintained by the TWH Dietary/ Food Services Department.

Series consists of accounts and correspondence of the Ontario Cancer Institute; minutes of the Board of Trustees and the Building Committee; lecture notes, speeches and memorandums; reprinted articles; grant applications and correspondence regarding Dr. Ash's research on adrenalectomy; minutes and reports from the Ontario Cancer Treatment & Research Foundation; correspondence by Dr. Gordon E. Richards, President of the Ontario Institute of Radiotherapy; cancer statistics and annual reports from the Ontario Institute of Radiotherapy; and minutes of the National Cancer Institute. Records reflect the varied administrative, teaching and research activities undertaken by Dr. Ash while Director of the Ontario Cancer Institute and contain files relating to his previous and concurrent positions as radiologist under Dr. Gordon E. Richards at Toronto General Hospital(1940-1949), senior radiologist at the Toronto General Hospital (from 1949), Professor of Radiotherapy at the University of Toronto and Radiotherapist in Chief to The Toronto General Hospital. Records do not include files from the offices of subsequent holders of this position. The statistics files include cancer statistics from 1924 to 1956. Files 2.50-2.57 relate to the Ontario Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation. Files 2.84-2.108 are the files of the President of the Ontario Institute of Radiotherapy which were created at the Toronto General Hospital and probably accumulated by Dr. Ash in 1949 when he was appointed Senior Radiologist at the Toronto General Hospital. Dr. Ash probably brought these files with him to the Ontario Cancer Institute when he became Director. Files have been arranged as close as possible to the order in which they were found, although the original order had probably been tampered with prior to their transfer to the Archives.

Gaps exist in the records between 1926 and 1934, 1966 and 1969, and 1969 and 1975.

Series consists of correspondence sent and received by the Superintendent/ Director of the TGH School of Nursing in the course of the day-to-day administration of the School.

Series consists of reports prepared by the Superintendent/ Director of the TGH School of Nursing and her assistants. Reports were prepared for various purposes and submitted to various individuals and corporate bodies: see sub-series-level descriptions for details. Reports contain information pertinent to the administration of the School. Some reports contain information relating to individual students of the School.

Series consists of correspondence and a three-year report to the National Cancer Institute of Canada prepared under the direction of Dr. A.W. Ham. Series reflects the initial development of the Division of Biological Research and its activities during the period documented in the report.

Series consists of minutes of the Committee on Informed Consent and the Special Committee on Consent, research and presentation slides, research and lecture notes, preliminary architectural drawings of the University Avenue site, and annual reports from the Ontario Institute of Radiotherapy, all accumulated by Dr. Richard Hasselback of the Department of Medicine. Series reflects the varied responsibilities and interests of the clinical staff. Files 5.6 to 5.12 may originally have been before file 5.1 but were in the present order when they arrived at the Archives.
