Biographical history
Thomas Turner & Co. was established by Thomas Turner in 1802, in Suffolk Works of Sheffield, England. Sheffield is well known for its history in the steel and cutlery industry. Thomas Turner & Co. was a popular manufacturer of cutlery, pocket knives, gardening tools, saws, files and other steel tools. In 1932 the business was purchased by Viners Ltd. following bankruptcy.

Item is one cast steel back saw with an 8 inch blade. It features a curved, stylized wooden handle that is affixed to the blade with two brass screws and split nuts. Backsaws differ from regular saws due to the stiffened upper spine of the blade. This affords the user more control of their work and makes the saw a good choice for precise and detailed work.
