      History

The Guelph Interfaith Curling Club, formerly known as the Guelph and District Clergy Curling Association is believed to have started in the 1960s. At first the club curled on two sheets of ice at the University of Guelph, but later moved to facilities at the Guelph Curling Club in the late 1960s. Emphasis was placed on friendly competition and creating a sense of community.

Initially membership to the club consisted of clergy only often made up of various denominations such as members of the Anglican, Baptist, Christian Reformed, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic faiths and the Salvation Army. Membership later expanded to include spouses, family members, full-time church workers and event church musicians. Lay persons sometimes filled in when a member was absent to curl.

An executive consisting of a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer was created and elected annually to manage the affairs of the club. Membership fees were based on a fee per member, but later changed based on a price/sheet of curling ice used. This resulted in increased fees which the club subsidized. The club often raised money for various charities. The club disbanded in 2022.
