Custodial history
These records were acquired over a period of 40 years from a variety of sources. Many items have unknown provenance. The primary source was Reverend Ralph Adye, former Minister of All Saints' Anglican Church, Whitby, who donated several items to local historian, Brian Winter in 1970. Brian Winter continued to collect items relating to the Greenwood family during his career as Town Archivist and added them to the collection.
Scope and content
Collection consists of newspaper articles, photographs, graphic material, correspondence, and business records related to members of the Greenwood family. The collection consists of the following sous-fonds: General Greenwood Family, John Hamer Greenwood, Florence Amery (nee Greenwood), and Hamar Greenwood, 1st Viscount Greenwood.
