Scope and content
The Fred and Ida Brown fonds consists of photographs, postcards and textual records created and collected by Frederick Erland Brown (1877-1968). The fonds documents members of the Brown and Bush families and showcases the vibrant lives of the Brown family living in Wilton, Ontario. Included are photographs and textual records of the Hested (Histed or Histes) family, Bell family and over four hundred postcards collected by the Brown family. Fred took great care with the arrangement and description of the photographs in this collection to represent the history of Ernestown, Napanee, Yarker, Wilton and other communities in Lennox and Addington County. The majority of the photographs in the collection were taken and developed by Fred Brown.
