Biographical history
Francis William Denton was born on September 24th, 1896, to Toronto lawyer Francis Brown Denton. He was admitted to Osgoode Hall Law School in 1914, and was called to the Bar of Ontario on October 1st, 1919. Denton practiced law in Toronto, until his appointment as a Junior Judge of the County of York in 1936. He served on the bench until his retirement in 1971. Denton served as a member of the Board of Commissioners of Police for the City of Toronto, as a trustee for the Toronto Board of Education and the Toronto General Hospital, and served as Vice-President of the Friends of Italy Society. In his private life, Denton was a painter and a member of the Arts and Letters Club in Toronto. Frank Denton died on November 21st, 1987.

Scope and content
Fonds consists of administrative files and miscellaneous legal documents maintained by the law office of Toronto lawyer Frank Denton. Records in the fonds largely document his personal life, his activities as a lawyer and as a member of the Board of Police Commissioners in Toronto. The miscellaneous legal documents included in the fonds were originally maintained by Francis Brown Denton, the father of Frank Denton. The fonds does not include records documenting Denton's time on the bench.

The records in the fonds were donated to the Archives by the daughter of Frank Denton in November 2011.
