Biographical history
Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Kapuskasing, the Rotaract Club of Kapuskasing aimed to help young adults, between the ages of 18 and 30, get involved in their community, mobilize for humanitarian causes and develop professional and leadership skills. Established in 2006 by Chantal Dussault and Glen Agar (president of the Rotary Club of Kapuskasing), the Rotaract Club of Kapuskasing organized several community and professional events, including the creation of a literary club, the organization of professional presentations with special guests and a dog parade to raise funds for ARK (Animal Rescue of Kapuskasing). The club stopped its operations in 2010 with the departure of several founding members. Melissa Vernier, History professor at the Université de Hearst, served on the executive committee as secretary from 2006 to 2009.
