Administrative history
The Eastern Ontario and Quebec District came into existence in 1932 when it was decided that the Eastern District Conference of the PAOC was too large and required division. This resolution created the Western Ontario District Conference and the Eastern Ontario and Quebec District Conference. Each district conference would have their own superintendent and two field directors. In 1995, the Eastern Ontario and Quebec District Conference amalgamated with the French Conference with the understanding that a separate district would be created for the province of Quebec. This was finally realized in 2000 when the Eastern Ontario and Quebec District separated into the Eastern Ontario District and the Quebec District. The current organizational structure of the PAOC divides Canada into eight districts roughly corresponding with provincial boundaries. A District Conference is composed all the credential holders in the district and lay delegates from local congregations. Under the authority of the General Conference, the District Conferences supervise the activities of the assemblies (local churches) and credential holders in its territory. This includes examining, licensing and ordaining ministers, electing officers and holding property in trust as required.
